CYP Mental Health Surge series of webinars

Children in Care

In light of the unprecedented demand on Children and Young People (CYP) Mental Health services, these webinars and resources have been prepared to support the South East systems leaders to navigate the context and mitigate risk.

Webinar 1: Working collaboratively with the third sector

This webinar brought together system leaders with voluntary and community sector leaders across the South East, for a mature commissioning conversation to problem solve how we might respond to the CYP MH surge and pressures together. This included a discussion about medium term funding potential for our VCS infrastructure. This session for children’s commissioning colleagues is jointly chaired by John McClaughlin, CEO Response (Oxon) and Andrea King, Assistant Director, CYP MH, NHSE/I, and it considers:

  • The need and context of our current CYP MH surge; and the pivotal skill and expertise of VCS colleagues
  • A brief depiction of the surge pressures and the range of needs we have
  • Examples of VCS agility
  • A call for creative and mature commissioning and medium term investment
  • Open discussion about next steps and sub-regional discussion time
