Restore and recovery planning for memory assessment services

We ran a ‘Restore & Recovery plans for Memory Assessment Services (MAS)’ webinar across the South East on Thursday 23 July 1-2 pm, which was attended by approximately 70 stakeholders from across the South East.

It was led by Dr Bikram Raychaudhuri (GP Dementia Clinical Lead for Kent, Surrey & Sussex), Dr Sian Roberts GP Dementia Clinical Lead for Thames Valley, and Dr Christopher Kipps (Neurologist at Southampton General and Dementia Clinical Lead for Hampshire).

We had presentations from three MAS services across the South East footprint covering the following topics:

  • Showcasing some of South East MAS services and how they have either adapted or ‘stood down’ during the COVID pandemic and what services have been available for dementia patients especially those in crisis
  • Outlining their draft recovery plans going forwards both in the short term and longer term as we slowly ease out of the pandemic. Featuring use of remote consultations (use of phone and video) and what diagnostic tools have been used, taking history remotely and how to deliver diagnosis including subtypes remotely/face-to-face. Lessons learnt from ‘new ways of working’ and what can be done differently going forwards?
  • Q & A session to allow opportunity for discussion and sharing of best practice
