On Thursday 26 March 2020, during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government launched it’s ‘Everyone In’ campaign. ‘Everyone In’ required local authorities to take urgent action to house rough sleepers and those at risk of rough sleeping in order to protect public health and stop wider transmission of COVID-19.
Between March 2020 and January 2021, the South East Homelessness and Rough Sleeping project has housed 5,661 homeless people in emergency and move on accommodation, the highest number in England outside of London.
This has been no small feat and was achieved through a multi-agency approach – South East Homeless Health Network now consists of 184 professionals from a wide variety of organisations including councils, voluntary organisations, GP surgeries, Homeless Health Services, NHS providers, Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) and Sustainability and Transformation Partnerships (STPs).
