The issues of gambling-related harm and gambling disorders are high on the national agenda at present and supporting people at risk of problem gambling is a multi-factoral issue requiring all stakeholders to play their part across health and social care. With the Long Term Plan committing to the expansion of NHS Treatment Centres across England, NHSEI South East brought together interested parties to discuss the development of this agenda. We were delighted to welcome key thought leaders in this space to set out the many areas of consideration, including;

  • Professor Henrietta Bowden-Jones – Director of the NHS National Problem Gambling Clinic and Director of the National Centre for Gaming Disorders
  • Professor Dame Clare Gerada – GP and President of RCGP
  • Dr. Matt Gaskill – Consultant Psychologist and Clinical Director for Addictions – Leeds & York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust
  • Professor Jim Orford – School of Clinical & Community Psychology, University of Birmingham
  • Stacey Goodwin – The Girl Gambler
  • Nick Craze – Gambling Guard

Our presenters were able to offer their unique perspectives and challenge our thinking, including the importance of ensuring lived experience and other innovative ways of engagement are part of these conversations.
