In conversation with Dr Guy Northover

Dr Guy Northover

This webinar considers the detailed analysis of, and priorities for, Eating Disorder system transformation – applying an all-age perspective.

It is chaired by Andrea King, Associate Director and Clinical Lead South East Region Mental Health Team for NHS England and NHS Improvement South East.

The analysis of the needs and flow of patients in the South East, in the context of the significant national and regional surge of mental health needs, is carefully considered.

Dr Guy Northover, GIRFT National Clinical Lead for CAMHs, provides a detailed analysis of the needs of children and young people requiring in-patient support from hospitals; including previous hospital presentations; lengths of stay; the needs and diagnosis of the children and the learning from effective and efficient models of care. In particular there is detailed discussion about the use of restraint and the necessity of reducing these interventions for children and young people, who in some cases are 27 times more likely to be restrained than adults.

The webinar provides an opportunity to stop and think about the hard questions facing the system and the priorities for transformation.
