Restoration and recovery planning for children and young people’s mental health services

This interactive webinar focuses on children and young people’s mental health (CYPMH) services to support recovery and restoration planning in response to COVID-19. Organised by the South East Mental Health Learning Disabilities and Autism (SEMHLDA) Cell, it was chaired by Dr Gavin Lockhart, Clinical Lead for CYPMH SEMHLDA.

The webinar focused on considerations in the ongoing development of restoration and recovery plans in order to help all systems across the south east and can be used by all providers and commissioners of children’s mental health services.

The first aim of the webinar provided oversight into the evidence and data that might inform restoration and recovery planning, how evidence is understood and interpreted, and how this might translate into predictive modelling of changes to demand for CYPMH services in response to COVID-19.

The second aim was to share best practice examples of predictive modelling, and restoration and recovery plans from services. We heard from Hampshire Child and Adolescent Services and Oxfordshire system including Oxford Health – child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS), and the Senior Commissioning Manager for Oxfordshire CCG. Their slide presentations are available to download here:

As SE MHLDA Cell, we will continue to offer support through webinars and sharing best practice to support recovery and restoration and will share any tools mentioned during the webinar that the presenters are able/happy to.

As with the previous version, this is not intended to be exhaustive and should be used alongside other emerging reports, local data and intelligence.

If you would like further details of the studies and surveys referenced, have any questions, or are aware of additional evidence not included in the paper please feel free to forward these to Gavin.Lockhart1@nhs.net.
