Equity Lead
Michelle Comrie is the Equity Lead at SHIP LMNS and a registered midwife. She holds a first-class Bachelor of Midwifery degree and a BA degree in History and Psychology. Known for her passion, determination, and commitment to justice, Michelle’s primary goal is to achieve equity for all women and NHS staff. She strives to ensure that women receive the safest care possible and that all NHS employees have equal career opportunities.
Among her notable achievements, Michelle has:
• Established the Maternity Triage Line social media page.
• Co-produced an equity and equality action plan for HIOW, complete with a QR code for local communities to access resources aimed at reducing health inequalities.
• Pioneered the first equity role in her region.
• Fostered community engagement with marginalized groups.
Additionally, Michelle participated in the BAFTA-winning Channel 4 documentary One Born Every Minute, which explored the experiences of new parents and maternity staff.
