What relevant experience do you have to perform your current role?

My background:

  • General and Oncology nursing before moving into health research as an NHS respiratory research nurse and oncology research practitioner.
  • Nurse educator providing training for healthcare professionals on the use of Diabetes monitoring devices.
  • Worked in the NHS as an international clinical trial coordinator to develop several European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer health-related quality of life questionnaires currently used clinically and in research.
  • Presented at national and international conferences and meetings.
  • Contributor or first author on several publications.
  • MRes in Clinical and Health Research at the University of Southampton.

What excites you about working at South East Clinical Delivery and Networks?

Working in the Cardiovascular Disease Clinical Network on Prevention to improve health outcomes for the local population and collaborating with the wider team.

What difference are you making to improve the care and health outcomes of patients or members of the public?

  • Lead and oversee the delivery of the NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme across Hampshire and Isle of Wight.
  • Responsible for co-ordination, project management and delivery of referral targets. Update key stakeholders by regular meetings and reporting.
  • The programme supports those at high risk of Type 2 diabetes to reduce their risk, via a 9-month supported lifestyle intervention to achieve a healthy weight, improve nutrition and increase physical activity.
