Covid-19 and Dementia
The Covid-19 pandemic has had a devastating and disproportionate effect on people living with a dementia and their carers. Excess deaths for people with dementia have already hit the headlines and social isolation continues to have an impact under the ongoing lockdown.
With the roll out of the vaccination programme and ongoing pressure on services there are two key areas in which we can take action now.
- Prioritising and supporting those with dementia to receive the vaccine
- Utilise care planning to keep people out of hospital
