Type 2 diabetes is two to four times more likely in people of south Asian, African-Caribbean or black African descent and this risk starts at a younger age.
Finding out your risk of Type 2 diabetes only takes a few minutes and by completing this tool. This will also tell you if you are eligible to join your local NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme (Healthier You). The programme helps prevent or delay the onset of Type 2 diabetes in people at high risk and is designed to help you make simple changes to your diet, your physical activity levels and your weight management to help prevent or delay the onset of Type 2 diabetes in people at high risk. It is free of charge, delivered by trained educators and available in English or Hindi/Urdu. During the COVID-19 pandemic the programme is being delivered remotely via group video conference, or online through apps and websites.
